Manly Wynnum Mothers Union women are always open to deepening their life of prayer and reflection!
Rev Andrew led a crafty reflection morning as a Lent prayer focus last Tuesday. Some years ago Robyn and Rev Jamie-Lee introduced the idea of prayer beads to the ladies, but it was a new thing for over half the current members. We learnt a little about how prayer beads are a common tool for meditation across denominations and other faith traditions then made our own.
They are a simple way of connecting our physical bodies into our prayer life as the action of gently handling each bead or knot helps quiet and focus our minds to allow God some space. Some members made traditional Anglican prayer beads while other used the idea to create a circle of prayer for family, friends or life aspects they want to remember and hold before God.
Creativity sure, but lots of beautiful story telling too!
