St Paul’s News – 11th August 2024

Meeting many and many meetings.

Lots of people things again this week from plotting and planning at Tatters and Chatters, enjoying being a passenger and meeting the vicar of Boonah on the road trip and of course doing the things at Parish Council.
It was great to meet Rev Rob Weekes from the Boonah-Harrisville Anglican Parish.

We hadn’t met before but clergy don’t have a problem sussing each other out and enjoying making the many connections between people we know in common. We enjoyed sharing what we are up to in our various patches and as always it was great to share our good news story of big things here at Manly. Rob has a cattle property not far out of town and I’d say his down to earth realness connects him really well with the folk of Boonah and beyond. Country parishes can be a challenge as demographics and economic factors move but I was inspired by Rob’s vision and hope in continuing to create a space for the Spirit in the district.

I’m grateful for the gathering of folk at Parish Council. We had a break in July to acknowledge the thought and time given at our Reflection and Planning Day, so this meeting was a bit of a catch up. Thanks to Craig for his carefully prepared Treasurer’s Report and thanks to all for the engaged discussion of some of our WHS learnings and forward planning for the next few months.

It was good to fix a few dates into the parish calendar which despite the time of Statio/Holy Pause I’m encouraging, shows a rich and vibrant community maintaining a healthy momentum. We have set dates for important things like Thanksgiving Sunday on the 10th of November… Archbishop Jeremy will join us and I’m sure will be pleased to fill in for our sadly unavailable master auctioneer when I get around to telling him.

As always, our value in not in how much we do or how many events we run but in the quality of our relationship with God and with each other. I continue to be inspired by the joy and openness of the good folk of St Paul’s… may you feel the inspiration of the Spirit around you in all you do this week.

Blessings on your head. Andrew
